Charoupomilos Cultural Center

This industrial monument was built in 1930 and was a locust beans processing plant, an important raw material at the time, as it was used mainly for the production of livestock feed, but also for the production of carob honey, which boosted significantly the region's economy.

In 1996, Haroupomilos was assigned to Epimenides, the Cultural Society of Panormo, and it was characterized as an industrial monument by the Ministry of Culture.

Today it is the only preserved locust beans processing plant on Crete. Following its restoration, the site is used as a concert hall, hosting theater and dance performances, exhibitions of artifacts and other cultural events, while in the near future it will be operating as a showroom for agricultural products of high quality and as a center for the promotion of agro-tourism.
